Laundry Chute Service & Fire Inspection

Put yourself in the shoes of your clients. You’ve just arrived and checked in. But as you make your way along the corridor – full of anticipation – you have to squeeze past a trolley full of soiled linen. Don’t let dirty linen ruin your guests’ first impressions. A laundry chute is the simplest, most hygienic and cost-effective way to manage hotel laundry, but it needs to be safe and operational 365 days a year.

For the hotels that we service, we provide a 24/7 Call-Out if your laundry chute encounters electrical failure. The breakdown of the interlocking fail-safe system can cause a delay in getting hotel rooms ready in time for the arrival of new guests. We arrange for a Certified Electrical Engineer to attend within 24 hours to carry out a full fire inspection of the laundry chute, and we will do all we can to repair the system on that same day.

There’s not much we haven’t seen during our fire inspections – from dampers tied up with shoes laces and bits of old rope, to fusible links that haven’t been changed for years.  So when it’s time for your annual Laundry Chute Service & Fire Inspection, make sure it’s by a Certified Fire Technician trained to IFSM (Institute of Fire Safety Managers) standards – because all of our fire technicians are.

And check that it includes a Chute Fire Risk Assessment report.  We have developed our unique ‘Live On-site Inspection Auditor App’ to provide our clients with photographic and written evidence along with a full compliance report, recommendations and Fire Certification for the Laundry Chute.  We will also conduct a Fire Risk Assessment of the laundry chute and its surroundings.

Upon the completion of the service, a laundry chute Certification & Commissioning Report will be produced by a Certified Fire Technician. This will provide you with the assurance for your guests and employees that the laundry chute is Fire Safe and has been maintained in accordance with the latest fire legislation.

We take this business very personally, because whilst some may view a laundry chute simply as a door to drop dirty linen through, we know that it’s about keeping your guest’s dreams alive and everyone safe.

Our Certified Fire Technician will inspect:

  • All access Laundry Chute Doors to ensure they are in good working order and in accordance with B S476: Part 22: 1987
  • All Laundry Chute seals to ensure they are compliant and replace if required
  • Laundry Chute Interlocking failsafe operation to all levels and service
  • Test the Laundry Chute fire plate/damper and change the fusible link to ensure it is in accordance with BS 476: Part 22: 1987
  • Laundry Chute exit section for damage or snagging
  • The Laundry Room to ensure it is clear, and safe from ignition sources
  • Laundry Chute Fire Risk Assessment with recommended action points

FIRE DAMPERS

Thousands of fire dampers are situated within the fire walls of office buildings, care homes, hotels and apartment blocks. But like all such systems – fitted incorrectly, moved during a retrofit, or simply not properly maintained, they can fail to prevent fire spreading quickly throughout the building.
